One of the The Actuarial Society of Kenya’s mission is to enhance the actuarial education in the country. This was evident on Friday 17, 2023 when TASK joined the Actuarial Science students during their dinner held at Swiss Lenana Mount Hotel, Nairobi.
The Actuarial Students’ Society of Kenya (ASSK) organised the dinner which brought together students across universities in East Africa under the theme “Diverse career opportunities in Actuarial Science”. The event also marked the ASSK’s 10-year anniversary celebration.
“We heard inspiring stories from seasoned professionals who shared their career journeys and offered valuable advice for aspiring actuaries. We also had a fantastic networking session, where attendees connected with industry leaders and gained insights into the latest trends and opportunities in the field,” said Stacy Gichuki, ASSK’s Chair after the dinner.

TASK was represented by its Council members Sahib Khosla and Moses Mutuli. Other members of the profession that showcased endless possibilities in the actuarial field to the students during the evening session were Lucy Nondi, Wilson Orero, Tracy Rotich, Jessica Njuguna, Lorraine Njue, Abraham Kemei, and Don Ouma.

“It was an honour speaking at the dinner on matters ESG on behalf of the ESG Africa Taskforce. I must say that this topic was in line with the ASSK’s theme as we look into the future of the field beyond our day to day operations,” said Ms Nondi.

The ASSK serves as an outreach tool for Actuarial Science students, offers formal and informal aid to its members, enhances cordial relations between students and industry players, and avails relevant actuarial information to its members. Its objective is to empower prospective actuaries on industry expectations and sensitise them on real world actuarial practice as an additive to the skills they acquire in lecture rooms.
